Little Authors!

Our Kindergartens love books and are such good writers that they are now interested in creating their own personal picture books. The students choose what the topic, what happens within the story and also illustrate their book with colourful pictures. We scribe for students that need help with writing while other students can print the text independently. We celebrate each others hard work with an end of the day gathering on the carpet where students present their work to their classmates (e.g. teacher reads a students book and displays illustrations). Bravo!

Spring Is In The Air!

Our class is proudly displaying some of our completed Spring activities in the hallway for others to enjoy. As a class we have discussed what Spring looks like and what changes can be seen in our environment. Many of our Kinders also worked hard to write about they find personally meaningful about Spring. Students enjoyed participating in a variety of Spring art activities such as making flowers or butterflies. Spring is definitely in the air!

Guided Reading Groups

Our Senior Kindergartens are preparing for Grade 1 by participating in small guided reading groups. During these guided reading sessions, students gain an appreciation for books, take turns reading and respect others' individual reading abilities. This is an important process in learning to read as it allows educators to focus on the individual needs of each learner. The books used are levelled books that contain many of the sight words we have been learning throughout the school year. We are very proud of our early readers!

We Love Our Large Wooden Blocks!

A huge thank you to Parent Council for our brand new, big wooden blocks! The Kindergartens love building with them and it is fostering co-operative play as students are working together to create many imaginative structures. Oral language is also fostered as our Kinders plan, build and explain their structures to others.
